We are happy to announce that we have partnered with Wilma’s Transition Society a local Chilliwack initiative that helps women & their families to safely leave and recover from domestic abuse.
We believe in giving back, so we're proud to announce our newest initiative: donating $0.47 to clean up waste from waterways for every order over $50.
The TerraCycle Global Foundation starts ocean cleanup at the main source: our rivers and canals. Did you know the cost to remove a pound of waste is only $0.47? The TerraCycle Global Foundation’s mission is to reduce the flow of plastic waste from rivers and canals before it can reach the ocean. In close partnership with local communities, this initiative designs world-class river waste prevention, collection and recycling solutions in regions of the world suffering from heavily polluted waterways.
We also love partnering with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organization dedicated to global reforestation efforts.
Our commitment is to plant at least One Tree for every Eco-Ship order.
With over 266 planting partners in over 43 countries and more than 30 million trees planted, One Tree Planted is making an incredible impact on the world around us.
Britsh Columbia
Notably, BC is home to incredible and iconic biodiversity like the Canada Lynx, Snowy Owl, Moose, and more. Forests cover two-thirds of the province – an area of almost 60 million hectares. Sadly, insect pests and diseases have decimated enormous areas of forest. These dead trees become fuel for wildfires, and in summer 2017 B.C. experienced its worst wildfire in history, with over 1.2 million hectares burned.
Biodiversity
We are facing a climate crisis and the rapid loss of Earth's remaining wild places. As we lose habitats, we also lose biodiversity. This is where trees come in! Reforestation helps to restore at-risk ecosystems and habitats, ultimately increasing food supply, health, and overall well-being. Your donation will help to restore forest cover in Sri Lanka, Mexico, and Kenya. Reforesting these areas will aid in the protection of endangered species, restoration of holistic ecosystems, and improvement of soil stability.
Rwanda
Rwanda’s forests support a wealth of biodiversity and natural resources. The Gishwati-Mukura forests of Rwanda once spanned 253,000 hectares, covering the land with over 60 species of trees and providing habitat to chimpanzees. Due to illegal mining and the resettlement of households after the genocide in 1994, overgrazing and tree cutting reduced the forests to a mere 3,558 ha. This project will help a women’s cooperative, led by local farmer Agnes Uwifashije, to revive land in Mukura.
Australia
Australia's forests range from ancient Gondwana rainforest and tropical mangroves to extensive bush lands made up of native acacia, melaleuca and eucalyptus trees. Your donation will help to plant millions of trees across Australia to recover forests affected by the 2019-20 Black Summer Bushfires and restore native habitat vital for wildlife.
